Frank Aprile, a longtime resident of the Bronx, died on March 4, 2020. He was 96.
Mr. Aprile was born on April 8, 1923 in Brooklyn to the late Peter and Rosalie Aprile. He served in the US Navy during World War II and worked as a printer for many years before his retirement. He was a talented artist who had a chance to work for Disney after the war. He has drawn portraits, created other artwork, including replicas of naval ships. He was also a musician who played the keyboard, especially the accordion. He played at weddings and other occasions with his band. On September 26, 1948 he married Filippa Barbato. She died on July 19, 2016.
He is survived by his daughter Rosalie Aprile McAteer and her husband Kevin McAteer; his son Frank Aprile, Jr.; his grandchildren, Christian McAteer and Katie McAteers; and many loving nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. He is pre-deceased by his son Peter Aprile who died in 2014, his brother Salvatore Aprile and his wife Christine, and his sister Jenny Ingrassia and her husband John.
Visiting will be Sunday from 2-7pm at John Dormi & Sons Funeral Home, 1121 Morris Park Avenue, Bronx. Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday at 10:30am at St. Clare’s Church, 1918 Paulding Avenue, Bronx. Entombment will follow at Ferncliff Cemetery, 280 Secor Road, Hartsdale.
